No. 107
This letter was addressed to R. Moshe Leib Rodshtein who was serving as the director of Agudas Chassidei Chabad in Chicago at this time.B"H, 13 Tishrei, 5704Greetings and blessings,In response to your blessings for the coming year which I received only now, I accept your blessings and respond with blessings[1] for a g'mar chasimah tovah for you and for your household, that you be sealed for a year of overt and apparent goodness in all forms of good.
I asked that a copy of and a notice concerning the message for Jewish soldiers[2] be sent to you for the Chicago Courier. Certainly, you will inform us of the outcome of the matter.
When we received the donations of Mr. Palmer and Mr. Katz to print the sichah, I wrote to each of them,[3] mentioning a quote from our Sages with a short explanation. Similarly, I have written them a letter now, while sending the sichah which was now published.
Since neither Mr. Palmer, nor Mr. Katz acknowledged the receipt of those letters, I would appreciate if, at an appropriate occasion, you could inquire about this and inform me.
For the approaching Sukkos holiday, concerning which our Sages commented (Sukkah 27b): "All of Israel are fit to dwell in one sukkah" - may we merit, speedily, in our days, the fulfillment of the prophecy (Yechezkel 37:22): "And I will make them one nation.... And David My servant will reign over them, and they will have one shepherd for all of them."
With wishes for a happy holiday and [with the blessing,] "Immediately to teshuvah, immediately to Redemption,"
Rabbi Menachem SchneersonChairman of the Executive Committee
