No. 253
This letter was addressed to R. Yaakov Lipsker, who, at that time, headed the committee supervising the Beis Rivkah schools established for the daughters of the refugees who fled Eastern Europe after the Holocaust.B"H, the first day of Chol HaMoed Sukkos, 5707Greetings and blessings,
Enclosed is a letter to the committee of the branches of Beis Rivkah. Would you be so good as to endeavor that the answer come quickly with detailed responses to all the questions [so that] not one shall be lacking.[100]
I received a letter from your sister,[101] but it is not clear to me what she desires -- whether she desires that Beis Rivkah make a petition [for a visa to the U.S.] on her behalf or not. If the answer is affirmative, she should send [the necessary] information and details concerning her. It is my responsibility to emphasize that this is not a well-tred path. [On the contrary,] this will be the first request of this type. Hence, clarification is required whether this is the best path to take.
With wishes for all good,
Rabbi Menachem SchneersonChairman of the Executive CommitteeBecause of the holiness of the festival, I did not sign.
Your letter to my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, was given to him at the appropriate time. Enclosed is the fifth maamar.
