This letter was addressed to R. Chanoch Hendel Havlin, one of the members of the Lubavitch community in Jerusalem.B"H, The Festival of Redemption, 19 Kislev, 5709Greetings and blessings,
[This is] in response to your letter of 29 MarCheshvan. My letter of 23 MarCheshvan[70] no doubt reached you in the interim and I will await an answer to both that letter and this one.
With greetings to all those who seek our welfare and with blessings for the Festival of Redemption,
- “The Mourners’ Kaddish that follows Mizmor Shir LeYom HaShabbos [in the Kabbalas Shabbos service] should be recited when the yahrzeit [one is observing] falls on Friday or on Shabbos, but not on Shabbos when the yahrzeit falls in the coming week.”[71] This [directive was given] by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita.
- This coming Friday, a commission of three men from the Fund for [Jewish] Preservation of Chicago is leaving for our Holy Land. Among them is R. Shlomo Palmer.[72]
- Enclosed is the kuntreis [published for] Yud-Tes Kislev. [It is being sent to you] to share with people at large.
- The publications that you ordered will be sent to you.
