No. 608
This letter was sent to a chassid whose name was not released.B"H, the hilula of R. Shimon bar Yochai, 5710Greetings and blessings,
In response to your notifying [me] of the completion of the purchase of the house together with your brother to which my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, consented at the time:
The words of a tzaddik are everlasting. Certainly, the purchase will be in a good and auspicious hour, according to the blessings of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m.
The great importance of a house in a spiritual sense is explained in the teachings of Chassidus. See Likkutei Torah, the second maamar entitled Mizmor Shir Chanukas, at the conclusion of Parshas [VeZos] HaBerachah, the conclusion of the series of maamarim entitled Mayim Rabbim, 5636, and other sources. As is well known, material matters are extensions of the spiritual concepts that are called by that name in Lashon HaKodesh. Therefore, to a certain extent, the physical matters can arouse the spiritual [source].
May it be G-d's will that the above be fulfilled through your purchase of this house and that it be a perfect structure in both a physical and spiritual sense. Seeking the welfare of, and extending greetings to, your household with blessing,
Rabbi Menachem Schneerson
This is an appropriate place to thankfully acknowledge [the contribution] conveyed to me before Pesach for maamad and for Machne Yisrael. The receipts were already sent to you at the time. Please forgive me for delaying [mention of this] until now.
