Greetings and blessings,

Among the projects of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch and Machne Israel occupied an importance for him. He treated them with a special degree of responsibility, accepting upon himself, personally and individually, the endeavor to provide the necessary means for the expenses involved in their work, both in the revealed dimension of their activities and in the dimension which was — and is now as well — carried out secretly.

It is clear and obvious that the intent of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, and his desire and will, is that all the divisions of the above-mentioned activities should continue as before not only as they are — quantitatively and qualitatively — at present, but rather should, like any living activity, proceed and grow, develop and broaden.

Now, however, the financial responsibility for the divisions of the above activities rests on the shoulders of all of us. Each one of his chassidim and those who are bound to him must be mediums and channels through which my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, will draw down his influence, and indeed, with greater power and strength, for a tzaddik who has passed away is found in all the worlds — also in this world of deed — more than during his lifetime.[556]

I suggest that you speak to the people in your community and organize a joint local committee for Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch and Machne Israel so that at the earliest possible opportunity it would be possible to get down to actual work according to the local conditions to provide a portion of the expenses for these activities in an ongoing manner.

Please inform [me] of the names of the members of the committee so that they can be mentioned at the gravesite of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, for blessing and manifold success in their activities on the committee in particular and in all their matters in general. If possible, notify [me] in a manner that will enable them to be mentioned at the gravesite on the Festival of Redemption, 12 Tammuz, which is also the birthday of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m.

Then it is possible for there to be — and as such, it is necessary that there be — a connection [to him], walking in his paths and [continuing], with greater power and strength, the activities which he himself performed as mentioned above.
