With prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving to the Creator we hereby bring to the English speaking public this twenty-second volume of Sichos In English covering the period of Tammuz to Elul of the year 5744. This brings the total number of volumes published for the year 5744 to five.
The free-style translations of the Sichos are structured to appeal to the English-speaking reader who has some basic familiarity with the teachings of Chassidus. The original contexts of the Sichos are generally maintained, and the form and style in which they were said is adhered to. Only slight adaptations or omissions have been permitted, when it facilitates the smooth flow of the translation. As always, great effort has been made to Ensure the accuracy of the translations; however, they carry no official authorization. As in all works of this nature the possibility of inadvertent error exists.
During the period covered in this volume the Rebbe emphasized the importance of studying the laws of the “Three Weeks” and the Rambam’s laws on the Beis HaMikdash. This topic served as an important theme during this period.
In discussing the Rambam’s works and the books written on the Rambam, the Rebbe urged the publication of a volume that would locate, collate and organize all the sources and references for the Rambam’s many rulings — which for some reason have slipped by the earlier commentaries.
Being that 5744 was 40 years since the passing of his saintly father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok, O.B.M., the Rebbe, Shlita, on several occasions, discussed this theme, as well as the meaning of the name, Levi Yitzchok. He also spoke of programs for senior adults which operate under name Kollel Tiferes Zekainim, Levi Yitzchok, memory of the Rebbe’s father O.B.M..
As in earlier volumes, we have also included in this volume several communal letters with timeless messages issued by the Rebbe for special occasions.
